Outside Sales Representative – Fire & Emergency Services
Cumberland County, Maine
Fire Tech & Safety is looking for a motivated, relationship-driven sales representative to serve fire departments and emergency service organizations throughout Cumberland County, Maine.
Fire Tech & Safety has been family owned and operated since 1985. We serve first responders throughout New England with fire equipment, service, training, and support. Our customers rely on us for everything from SCBA, turnout gear, hose, rescue tools, gas detection, PPE, service, testing, and the everyday equipment firefighters depend on to do their jobs safely.
We are looking for someone who understands the fire service, respects the work, and knows how to build trust with firefighters.
Who We’re Looking For
The right person does not need to come from a traditional sales background, but they do need to understand firefighters and the culture of public safety.
This could be:

A full-time firefighter working shifts
- A volunteer, call, or retired firefighter

Someone from a public safety, municipal, military, or service-oriented background

Someone with family in the fire service, public safety, municipal, military, or service-oriented fields.
- Someone already connected to local departments, municipalities, or emergency services

A motivated person who appreciates the mission, and wants to build a long-term career serving first responders
This position is about relationships, follow-through, and earning trust. Fire departments want to work with people who answer the phone, call back quickly, know the products, and care about doing things the right way.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with fire departments in Cumberland County and surrounding areas
- Visit customers regularly and stay visible in the territory
- Help departments evaluate equipment, PPE, service needs, and future purchases
- Prepare quotes, follow up on opportunities, and assist customers through the buying process
- Coordinate with Fire Tech’s service centers, product managers, inside sales, and support staff
- Represent Fire Tech professionally at departments, trainings, demos, and regional events
- Learn the product lines and become a trusted resource for customers
- Respond quickly to customer calls, emails, and requests

Compensation
Estimated pay range: $37,000 – $150,000 per year
Compensation is highly dependent on experience, territory development, sales performance, and the amount of effort put into the position. This role has significant upside for someone who is motivated, organized, and willing to work hard to build relationships.
Qualifications
- Fire service, emergency services, municipal, public safety, or related background preferred but not required
- Strong communication and follow-up skills
- Comfortable visiting fire stations and meeting with chiefs, officers, firefighters, and municipal buyers
- Self-motivated and able to manage a territory independently
- Basic computer and email skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Willingness to learn products, equipment, and service offerings
